Mothers Standing in the Gap
The great love and concern for the spiritual and physical salvation of our children motivated many of our mothers to unite in prayer and ask God for guidance as we intercede for them.
Due to the nature of this ministry, it is necessary to have specific duties and responsibilities as a group. As one of the responsibilities in this ministry, we fast and pray every Wednesday. Another very crucial part of our ministry is our home gatherings that take place once a month in prayer and fasting to intercede, not only for our children, but also for the youth of our church and around the world.
As a whole, we have witnessed the power of prayer and have seen the great blessings that have fallen upon those that are prayed for.
This group of praying mothers was formed due to the great need that there is to help our children and the youth in becoming persons of well-being. We pray that God may impart His strength on them to be able to defend themselves against all the dangers in this society.
We pray for the pain and suffering that we as mothers feel as we watch our children being ensnared by drugs, alcohol, violence, fornication, and other worldly temptations; and we pray for the most painful of all, which is seeing our children so far from God.
Specific Objectives for the Mothers Standing in the Gap Ministry:
- We want to be the Lord’s army to defend our children.
- We want to care for our children through the silence of prayer.
- We no longer want to sit in defeat; we want to protect our children and we know that we have a “very powerful resource” and that is prayer.
“Arise, cry out in the night, at the beginning of the watches; pour out your heart like water before the face of the Lord. Lift your hands toward Him for the life of your young children.” Lamentations 2:19 |
